Interview With Engineer, Entrepreneur & Opal Eco’s Founder, Louis Claeys

1- Hello Louis, can you please tell us a bit about you?

Ok, Personally I’m a married 30-year-old family man with 2 stepdaughters and a cheeky little toddler (boy). Professionally, I am an electrical project engineer by trade, having worked in the industry for many years. I began online trading back in 2017, with the company growing rapidly I was able to leave my job in 2019. Fast forward to 2020, when the pandemic struck, when we were all cleaning to no end when I realized the number of harmful chemicals littered in our everyday cleaning products. I wanted to make a change, and after months of research, I found a gem, which today is called Opal Eco.

2- What are your focus areas and why?

Personally, to be the best dad I can possibly be, every day. Professionally, it’s to create a range of eco-friendly products, that actually work and are proven to not only compete with industrial counterparts but to outperform, backed by scientific data.

3- As an entrepreneur, what is it that motivates and drives you?

It’s the fire in my belly. The desire to want to be and do more in every aspect of life. It’s the opportunity to make a difference not only in the products we create, but the engagement we have with every human along the way. The drive is simply to just be a better person everyday, no ultimate goal or crazy motive.

4- Where do you think Opal Eco is making an impact?

We are making an impact by giving the people a genuinely better and safer alternative. We are continually being exposed, unnecessarily to harmful chemicals in our everyday lives. The effects of these chemicals are well documented, and range from repertory issues to skin burn and worse. Not to mention, the effect chemicals have on our environment. Opal Eco ensures a safer, more sustainable option that has been extensively and scientifically proven.

5- From being an engineer to managing one of the leading companies in the green cleaning market, was it easy as it sounds?

No, not at all. Leaving behind the securities and steady reliable income is not an easy step. My income from engineering was 4x the amount I paid myself when I made the switch, which a big hit. But I could see the bigger picture, my dreams were on the other side. I had to peruse them.

6- What the word “Earth-Conscious” means to you?

Earth-conscious to me means careful and thoughtful consideration for how things affect our environment and our planet as a whole. From the formulation and the ingredients used to the packing the way in which the product is offered.

7- Where do you see the company in the next 5 years?

Leading and transforming the industry, from homes, schools and across the commercials industry. Eco-friendly cleaning is on the rise and is growing rapidly. Here at Opal Eco, we are at the forefront of change.

8- What can you tell young creative entrepreneurs who are pursuing their dreams?

Keep at it and keep pushing. Nobody else is going to do it for you. It’s all on you. Take responsibility and take action.

9- What are you most excited about at the moment?

The unknown. The struggle. The possibilities.
I love the act that we don’t know what is around the corner, I like surprises, the unknown opportunity awaits.
I love the struggle.  Solving problems and strategically planning. It’s where the growth is.
The possibilities are endless. Head down and work on one 1 goal at a time. Watch where it grows.

10- The last word or final thoughts?

I’m at the very start of my entrepreneurial journey. There is a mountain of work to do and learn. Every day is a new chapter and the opportunities are ours to make. I don’t expect any step along the way to be easy, in fact, I know it will be tough… But if it was easy, everyone would be doing it. Also, check more on our social media accounts:
